Hamilton Health Lab

The Hamilton Health Lab is directed by Associate Professor Dr. Nancy Hamilton in the Department of Psychology at the University of Kansas. The lab focuses on research related to sleep, dreaming and nightmares, as they relate to physical and mental health. We are particularly interested in understanding posttrauma nightmares and using that information to develop interventions. For more information on current projects, please see the Research portion of this website.

The Hamilton Health Lab upholds the standards set by the Office of Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Policy on Diversity & Inclusion which applies to all faculty, staff, and students at the University of Kansas.

"As a premier international research university, the University of Kansas is committed to an open, diverse and inclusive learning and working environment that nurtures the growth and development of all. KU holds steadfast in the belief that an array of values, interests, experiences, and intellectual and cultural viewpoints enrich learning and our workplace. The promotion of and support for a diverse and inclusive community of mutual respect require the engagement of the entire university.”

Want to become a Research Assistant?

Becoming an undergraduate research assistant is an amazing opportunity for those who wish to get involved in the research process, gain valuable experience graduate school or a career after graduate, and work closely with Clinical Psychology graduate students and Dr. Hamilton. Research assistants will not only have the opportunity to work on current studies being conducted by Dr. Hamilton and her graduate students, but also have the ability to conduct their own, smaller-scale research under the supervision of the graduate students.

Volunteer positions and PSYC 480 credit are currently being offered. (PSYC 480 credit would require minimum of 9 hours of work in the lab per week, plus a one-hour lab meeting). Lab duties include: completing weekly lab hours, data entry, data management, screening participants, running participants, scheduling, and assisting in additional lab-related tasks.
